Well, I’m in Hong Kong again. Big whoop.

You know the feeling, that you really know something and all logic backs it up, but you just don’t want to admit it? You hope you’re wrong, you hope things will change. But the truth is, it really doesn’t look like it will. Still you feel like you prefer to learn that the hard way.

Humans can be really stupid sometimes, and even though I know that, I still can’t help but be human.

P.P.S. It’s true (for me) that it’s easier to write when you’re down.

It was pretty good too, not to mention, it was the first time we’d all even heard of the brand. I was even against buying it at that time, because it seemed like an “ambiguous Chinese brand”. I was kinda joking — what irony. Oh well, too bad. :<

The picture sucks, I know. But that’s a picture of a major road in Ortigas — Julia Vargas. Half of it was converted into a parking space for last night’s event. Third Eye Blind, apparently, was performing. What a crowd, and consequently, what traffic!

As San Miguel’s bet on hitting a world record, Oktoberfest 120 started early and it means traffic. Okay, so I’m looking at the bad side of it I know, but I really wonder how long the road blocks are gonna be there. I find it hard to believe that major roads in such a busy district will be closed for 4 months.

On a very ironic sidenote, I miss hanging out, and seeing all those people out last night made me miss it (and the people I did it with) even more. October means something else to me, so I’m thinking of planning something.

Yup, plane landed around 8:00 last night. The feeling of seeing family again was as awesome as I expected. I gave mom the present I’d bought for her (a really nice bag) and we caught up on each others’ stories. It was a great reunion after a month there, and I should be relaxing now, yet here I am thinking of what’s up ahead.

It was my 4th time there. Hong Kong is nice and all, but after the tourist spots, I guess the normal life isn’t too different from life here at home. Sure it’s far more convenient and communication with most people is a challenge, but eventually you can’t help but see what used to be a “change of pace” as time away from family, friends, and things that spell comfort and familiarity to you.

But that’s life, and that time away isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In my case, it seems like a meaningful step forward, and the concepts of comfort and familiarity have easily spread to my other life in that foreign country. In fact it was never weird. And I wasn’t homesick per se. It was just different, and different isn’t bad.

Sure I miss people, it’s natural. And sure I think places I miss, paying with a lower currency, food that I grew up with, donuts at the ground floor. But when I’m there, it doesn’t feel like they’re missing from my life, just that I have more to that life now, and it gives me something to look forward to.

But up to half a year in Hong Kong, would I still feel the same way? I guess we’ll see.

Make that, two weeks longer. We’re staying till the 29th, it’s crunchtime at work.

We had a great weekend though, and I’m gonna do some shopping this week. Random HK and Macau trip pics in my Multiply.

First of all, I’d like to mention that my laptop (and consequently, myself) just recovered from a nasty virus attack, which I have no idea how I got. It may have something to do with IE being the security nightmare that its reputation so loudly warns us of, but I’m not really sure because I think it started while I was using Firefox. In any case, for some reason after some random attempts at fixing it through Avira, Unlocker and some manual deleting, it’s gone. I’m not exactly sure how it happened (it was a very complicated process) but I’m not complaining.

Now a quick rundown again (Abby, you suck at blogging, seriously).

Week one was awesome, the presentation was awesome, and the clients signed, which is also equally if not even more awesome. They’re a BIG client, and now that they’ve taken interest in what we have, others are definitely gonna follow. I can’t wait to see how things turn out.

Did you guys see the opening ceremony of the Olympics? That was so cool!

They said that getting to the Beijing from here in HK is cheap and easy because of the whole tourism thing, but we didn’t go. Not like we could really get our effort’s (and money’s) worth in a day’s trip back and forth. So I just saw it on TV. Man, would’ve been awesome seeing all that up-close.

And as for shopping, the boys here bought some toys, and being the dorks that we are, we’ve been having a blast with the 4 Transformers Revoltech action figures Ali bought. Check it out:

Aaaand I bought a really nice bag! Seriously, that was what I went out shopping for haha! I’m gonna start using it tomorrow. Oh and got mi mum a nice present too.

Today, we stayed in the hotel. Good and bad. Good, because at least we got to rest (hardly got any rest since we got here) and bad, because it was due to a storm signal 8. It was pretty dangerous outside, and probably around 80% of public transportation was suspended. So it kinda got boring after a bit. I mean come on, only 9 channels on TV and you’d be lucky to find any show in English. Haha! Good thing we brought some movies.

Anyway, tomorrow’s the big presentation day, since as of 5pm today the storm signal lowered to 3. Hope things go well.
