Hong Kong Week One

Second straight night of coming back to the hotel past midnight. This place is awesome.

For the most part, it really did live up to my expectations. Actually it did a little more — because I thought the room would be smaller and I didn’t think Cyberport (corporate building where our office is) would be that big. As I said, It’s also strangely comfortable here, even with the people in and out of the office. Yes, despite the language barrier. In fact in many cases, I’ve found the language barrier to be quite advantageous hahaha.Anyways, for the good stuff…

Wacom Intuos 3

I bought the Wacom! 6×8 Wacom Intuos 3 to be exact. It works great, even with this laptop. I haven’t had much time to really use it yet, but I tried sketching with it and it looks and feels like I’m sketching on paper. Legendary! I can’t wait for my new desktop~

Um also in the pic there’s a gray plastic dog, and that’s actuaally a telephone! Not a mobile phone, a real telephone. Cute eh? Found a lot of cute stuff here actually, and specialty stores that were really nice.

We went to Mong Kok twice already this week, particularly Sino Center (5 floors of gadgets, toys, music, anime stuff, etc). Although apparently it isn’t nearly as fun as it was before (like when the boys where here a few months ago), it was still fun to see so many things. We also went to the Divisoria of Mong Kok — tons of cheap stuff, but many of them are same-old same-old. We did get a few good stuff though, and being there was great already. Bought a couple of tops, CK One (really cheap!), some cute stuff, and stuff to bring home friends and officemates. We also ate at Pizza Hut today because we were too tired to look for anything else at the time. Funny thing is that they treat it like fine-dining, while in the Philippines Pizza Hut is more of the fastfood type that you eat when you can’t think of anything else to haha.

Work has been…strange but okay. I’ve made a lot of observations about the way they do things here, but I’ll hold off my comments… for now. Haha. All I can say is, I now know why things are the way they are, and I sincerely hope that things don’t always stay this way. Anyways, some good things came out of the meetings this week, so overall I’d say it’s an okay work week. Just really messy.

It’s 4:09 and I have to get some sleep. I’ll post about the other stuff I forgot to tomorrow… I’m in Supreme (!!!) Zombie Mode now hahaha. So see ya, hope everyone’s doing fine. Miss you all already :)

Amazing.

Waiting.

Surprisingly enough, this place gave me an oddly comfortable feeling from the moment I set foot in it. Despite the fact that finding our way back to the hotel sometimes becomes a problem, there’s just something about this place.

It reminds me too much of the places I grew up in. And it feels like such a small town. No need to understand it. I’m just glad I came. I really needed it, it seems. And I’m hoping this trip brings me more to my senses than it’s already started to.

I’ll post more details over the weekend. That’s when we really go out. Gimme what you got Hong Kong.

The Global Leadership Summit 07 (Day 2)

Err we got in kinda late so we apparently missed the good parts about Colin Powell’s interview. Actually, we got there just about 5-10 mins into it, but stepped outside for coffee since I was still half asleep. It took me a while to finish drinking it coz it was scalding, and when we got in, the interview was already past halfway. Rofl. Go me.

Anyways, day two was great. Although, as for the interviews with Colin Powell and former US president Jimmy Carter, they were the types of things that are better actually heard. Here are some things from day two anyways.

The Global Leadership Summit 07 (Day 1)

GLS 2007

A summit with some of the most influential leaders in the world, where they share their leadership experiences and expertise. It was held in the US last August, and they took it upon themselves bring the sessions to 30 other countries via videocast. Sounds boring, but let me just say…

It. Was. Legendary.

And today is just day 1. There were times when I felt I couldn’t write fast enough, especially since I didn’t want to just write through the whole thing. I even saw my boss there, I knew she was taking a leave but I didn’t know till texting her that she was going to the same event.

Anyways, I wanna share a few things I learned for my readers. If you ever want to better yourself as a current, potential or aspiring leader, these are very good things to consider.

The Birthday Part 2

Foood.

Well actually nothing really special. Just want to post about it. The three October birthday celebrants bought some food for the office, actually a LOT of food heheh. Really good Carbonara thanks to JJ. But we’ve proven once more how bad the KF* delivery is heheh. Pizza Hut not bad. We had so much food it didn’t look like we could eat it all, but before the workday was over, the food was all gone. Rofl.

Piggie.

I got another gift yay. Squishy pig. I’m not sure she knows but I really appreciate it, squishy bath soap pig. Haha. It’s genius.

Well, the rest of the day was okay. Actually, it seemed to get worse as the day went on, to be honest. But you can’t have it all I guess. Still a happy birthday for me.

On other news. I just gotta say, I hate loose ends. But that’s the story of my life. Damn haha. And as someone told me, that’s something I need to work out myself. Cheers to those who know what I’m talking about ;) If not, don’t ask.

I think I might get that Intuos this month after all. We’ll see.

The Birthday Part 1

Prepare for a mindless post. Haha.

It actually started out like an ordinary day, except I got a few text messages already from midnight and early morning. Really felt so good waking up to those greetings. I woke up feeling good, and I’m thankful for that. I got to work early (traffic’s been unreasonably nasty recently), and that was something to be thankful for again.

Greetings as soon as I stepped in. Worked, relatively productive day too.

Okay so. We had lunch out (I didn’t bring lunch GASP! But that wasn’t planned haha), then when we headed back to the office. As per usual, they went in ahead coz I went to the washroom first, but when I stepped in, the pantry door was closed and the guys weren’t in their seats. Mike was holding a folded piece of paper, seemingly headed for the door. I thought boss came in and was in the pantry with an interview or something, and the boys went to the bathroom (as a group, yes that wasn’t surprising hahaha!) so I sat down, back to work.

I really wasn’t expecting anything since the October birthday celebrants will be treating/celebrating tomorrow. Then over the sounds from my earphones, I hear them singing “Happy birthday!”

Aww

SUPREME cake with sugar flowers, 21 candles and red swirly letters! Yaaay! <3

They walked up to my desk and had me blow out the candles. Yaaay! And then, handed me these LEGENDARY gifts! I will show you just how legendary they are!

Wee

Yaaay! I absolutely love these gifts! One is a shirt with my drawing (the one in this current layout) airbrushed on it, I like it so much! And the other one on the right has the words “Behind this shirt is the wittiest girl in the world” nyaaaa. Aww. Although that’s not true really, and that’s reference to my infamous email address, I still love it~ Oh click here to see the back of the first shirt.

Harhar.

So we cut the cake and gave some to everyone in the office. Seriously, I was so happy, and am still so happy. Yaaaay. As I started writing this even, I got a call from a very close friend of mine, whom I haven’t seen in a while, and I just remembered how much I enjoy talking to him! We were laughing so hard, like old times.

At one point, he said “Di ka pa rin nagbabago” (of course that was after I was teasing him hahaha). And I like that. A year older, a year wiser I hope, one more year’s worth of good memories, learning experiences. And still that line could be said of me, in between gasps of breath from heartfelt laughter. I’m thankful for that.

Thank you so much guys. Really.

Anyways, before I end, I’d like to say thanks to everyone who greeted me, old friends (like, gradeschool friends I haven’t seen since then!) and new friends, family, loved ones, every single one who greeted me. Thank you SO MUCH! Last but not least, to the Mamon Crew hahaha. You guys are the best (yeah yeah you already know that LOL), thanks for making this birthday extra special. Again…yaaaay! XD
